Lotus (Africa) Limited is a leading Africa-focused advanced uranium company with significant scale and resources. The Company holds an 85% interest in the Kayerekera Uranium Project in Karonga, Malawi. Lotus is committed to generating value for its shareholders, customers, and communities where it operates. The Company is situated in Karonga, Malawi and has its headquarters in Perth, Australia. Lotus will be undertaking refurbishment and maintenance of the process plant and other facilities in preparation for production set to commence in the new year.

Lotus (Africa) Limited invites applications from suitably qualified energetic and self-motivated male or female Malawian nationals to join its team on a fixed term basis at Kayelekera Mine in Karonga District in the position below:

 ICT Systems Support Officer

 Employment Type: Fixed term (6 months)

 JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to provide end user support and maintenance within the organization’s ICT environment to ensure end users can accomplish business tasks.

REPORTING TO THE ICT Officer, THE ROLE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting end-user workstation hardware and software installations and networked peripheral devices in accordance with the company’s Standard Operating Environment policy.
  • Active Directory administration including creation and maintenance of user and group accounts.
  • Administration of business applications, always ensure their availability to business owners.
  • Proactive monitoring of the utilization of server-hardware resources and taking necessary proactive steps to resolve the problem.
  • Performing hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Recommending, scheduling, and performing PC, hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades and repairs.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of servers, workstations, printers and peripherals.
  • Accurately documenting instances of PC equipment or component failure, repair, installation and replacements
  • Surveying, planning and designing of network infrastructure.
  • Installation, configuration and termination of wired and wireless networks.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving network related issues.
  • Monitoring performance and availability of the networks.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary IT qualifications are essential. Those with a Degree in Computing and Information Systems or Information Technology from reputable institution will have an added advantage.
  • Desirable must haves IT Professional Certifications:
    • CompTIA A+ Certified Professional (A+)
    • Network+ Certified Professional (N+)
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • A minimum of 2 – 4 years’ experience in a busy IT environment.
  • Demonstrated good working knowledge of modern service, software and hardware technologies that would include:
    o Virtualization in general
    o Storage Area Networks
    o Digital Video Conferencing Technology (DVC)
    o Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Technology

CORE COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

  • Excellent technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware and operating systems within a Microsoft centric environment, including PCs, laptops, mobile devices, etc.
  • Experience with server operating systems within a Microsoft centric environment, including Windows Server, Active Directory, etc.
  • Working knowledge of network equipment and protocols systems, including Cisco, TCP/IP,

Wireless, etc.

  • Extensive experience supporting desktop applications within a Microsoft centric environment, including MS Exchange, MS Office, etc.
  • Working knowledge with diagnostic utilities
  • Sound experience using Help Desk software to record and monitor problems and requests
  • Extensive equipment support experience with peripherals, including printers, plotters, etc.
  • Demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting experience with hardware
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
