Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (SMEDI) is a parastatal organization mandated to promote the development and growth of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country, intends to recruit the services of well-qualified, experienced and result oriented persons to fill various positions tenable at its various duty stations located in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mponela as follows:
Position – Assistant Accountant (2 Positions)
Grade: SME 6
Job Purpose
To provide effective and efficient accounting services.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or any other related course from a recognized and accredited tertiary institution;
- A minimum of two (2) years practical experience in a very busy office preferably with various satellite offices;
- Less than 40 years of age;
- Sound knowledge of Public Financial Management;
- Very strong organizational skills, versatility, ability to multi task and meet very strict deadlines;
- Self-starter;
- High levels of honesty and integrity;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Team player.
Selected Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining the Cash book;
- Managing petty cash;
- Preparing monthly bank reconciliations;
- Filing of financial documents;
- Maintaining creditors’ and debtors’ registers;
- Balancing and updating ledgers.
