Airport Developments Limited (ADL) is a Company fully owned by Malawi Government and was incorporated under the English Companies Statutes of 1908 and 1913 which regulated Companies in Malawi before 1986.

ADL is responsible for the management of Kamuzu International Airport and facilitation of smooth, safe and secure movement of air travelers and cargo through provision of world class infrastructure, services and effective management of airports in an environmentally sustainable manner for socio- economic development.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position tenable at ADL Head office in Lilongwe.

COMPANY SECRETARY AND HEAD OF ADMINISTRATION

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide corporate service and strategic leadership, direction and guidance on legal, ICT, public relations and administration functions in an efficient and effective manner to enable ADL achieve its goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Providing all company secretarial duties to the Board and Management.
  2. Providing legal, regulatory and compliance advice to the Company.
  3. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal instruments such as contracts, MOUs, licenses and regulations.
  4. Providing strategic leadership to the Company’s corporate services, creating a culture of effective and efficient services in line with the legal framework.
  5. Overseeing the Company’s legal and regulatory services section.
  6. Representing the company in the courts of law
  7. Ensuring the company’s compliance with statutory obligations, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures
  8. Taking the lead in developing the company’s annual work plan. programs, strategies, and budgets based on priorities within allotted resources.
  9. Liaising with external lawyers retained by the company
  10. Identifying capacity development needs of the department’s staff and facilitating appropriate training programs in line with the career development path of the Authority.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Law;
  2. A Master’s Degree in either Law, Public Administration, Business Administration or Strategic Management;
  3. Registered member of the Malawi Law Society;
  4. Chartered Secretaries will have an added advantage; and
  5. A minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience of which five (5) years must be at managerial level.
