Airport Developments Limited (ADL) is a Company fully owned by the Malawi Government and was incorporated under the English Companies Statutes of 1908 and 1913 which regulated Companies in Malawi before 1986.

ADL manages Kamuzu and Chileka International Airports and all Public Aerodromes in Malawi. It is responsible for and facilitation of smooth, safe and secure movement of air travelers and cargo through provision of world class infrastructure, services and effective management of airports in an environmentally sustainable manner for socio- economic development.

JOB DETAILS

Job Title: Terminal Operations Officer
Grade: ADL 5
Location: Chileka International Airport (CIA)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To oversee and manage CIA Terminal estates and operations

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct daily inspections of airport Terminal facilities, equipment and infrastructure; and document the findings
  2. Submit and facilitate prompt response to maintenance requests based on observations and results of inspections
  3. Coordinate and monitor the maintenance of Terminal facilities, systems, equipment and infrastructure to ensure quality works and minimal disruption of Terminal operations during the works
  4. Coordinate Terminal operations to ensure the safety and security of the public, tenants and airport staff.
  5. Monitor the activities of tenants, business outlets and service providers, etc., in the Terminal to ensure compliance with airport standards, policies and regulations.
  6. Facilitate effective communication and information sharing among airport stakeholders
  7. Provide frequent contact with Airport management to exchange information and concerns with respect to policies, procedures, airport activities, operating conditions, tenant relations, etc.
  8. Coordinating the emergency evacuation of Airport personnel, tenants, and the traveling public as necessary
  9. Attend to customer/tenant complaints and requests
  10. Producing periodic reports

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Airport Management or Bachelor of Business Administration, Economics, or Marketing plus specialized training in aviation management.
  • At least two (2) years of airport management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of airport operations, security, and management
  • Result oriented
  • Good understanding of customer service and public relations practices and procedures.
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of building, grounds and airfield inspection practices and principles.
  • Ability to analyse data from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and make decisions accordingly.
  • Ability to maintain a daily log of significant events and pertinent matters
  • Ability to interpret and apply airport regulations, legislation, and guidelines.
