ZONE SENIOR FINANCE OFFICER NF5 (12)
Reporting to the Chief Accountant and responsible for Finance Officer.
Job Purpose
The Zone Senior Finance Officer plays a key role in ensuring sound financial management at the zonal level. This position is responsible for overseeing all zonal financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations, and supporting branches in financial processes. The officer will also contribute to strategic financial planning and operational decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyse zonal monthly cash flow needs and prepare accurate financial forecasts.
- Process and capture approved payment vouchers and journals in the accounting system.
- Maintain organised and compliant accounting records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Supervise and support branch-level accounting functions, including bank reconciliations and expenditure reporting.
- Prepare and submit accurate loan transfer sheets and ensure timely updating of loan repayments based on verified bank receipts.
- Reconcile loan portfolios, ensuring integrity and compliance of financial data.
- Prepare and submit timely financial reports to the Head Office and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor zonal expenditure and promote adherence to cost control measures.
- Lead preparations for both internal and external audits; implement audit recommendations effectively.
- Enforce adherence to financial regulations and institutional financial policies at all levels.
- Collaborate with branch managers, internal departments, and external stakeholders to address financial discrepancies.
- Provide actionable financial insights to branch teams to enhance operational efficiency.
- Conduct training for branch finance staff on financial systems, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance;
- Candidates who are partly qualified in ACCA or CIMA are preferred
- 3 years relevant work experience in financial accounting roles.
