
Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA)
Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) is a Statutory body created by an Act of Parliament No. 9 of 2019 with the mandate to regulate medicines and allied substances, pharmacy businesses and the practice of pharmacy in Malawi.
In a bid to strengthen human resource capacity in delivering this mandate, the Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified, highly motivated and experienced persons of Malawi origin to fill various positions tenable at its Head Office in Lilongwe. The following are the details of the vacant positions: –
POSITION : ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT (3)
Grade: PMRA7
Location: Regional Office (North, Centre & South)
Responsible to : Accountant
Job Purpose
To undertake routine clerical and accounting tasks. Preparing budgets, maintaining reports, and completing basic bookkeeping and accounting duties for the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare financial documents such as invoices, bills, and accounts payable and receivable
- Process salaries and business expenses
- Complete financial reports on a regular basis and providing information to the finance team.
- Carry out bank reconciliations
- Enter financial information into appropriate software programs
- Manage ledgers and day-to-day transactions
- Assist in coordinating internal and external audits
- Verify bank deposits and balances in account books and rectifying discrepancies
- Record office expenditures and ensuring these expenses are within the set budget
- Assist in completing the year-end analysis and in preparing budgets, records, statements and reports on debtors and creditors
- Handle accruals and prepayments
- Manage supplies stores
- Organize financial documents and posting them to the proper accounts
- Review computer reports for accuracy and meticulously tracing errors back to their source
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Accountancy from a recognized university
- 2 years’ work experience in accounting field
Person Specifications
- Sound planning and coordination skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical skills
