EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT PLACEMENT: DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMES
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
An opportunity has arisen to engage qualified and experienced persons to fill Executive Management positions tenable at MBC Head office in Blantyre.
Under the Communications Act of 2016, MBC is tasked with providing informative, educational, and entertaining content, while respecting human rights and promoting diversity through objective and professional programming. To enhance its operations, MBC is seeking qualified Malawian candidates for the Executive Management role of Director of Programmes.
DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMES MBC 2
Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the Director General the purpose of the position will be to direct and coordinate the preparation of MBC program schedules and programs.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Verifies program logs for accuracy and compliance with regulations, resolving any discrepancies.
- Consults with other directors and production staff regarding production issues, budgets, and policies.
- Directs and coordinates activities for broadcasting programs.
- Establishes work schedules and assigns tasks to staff.
- Evaluates new and existing programming for suitability based on audience feedback and survey data.
- Monitors and reviews programming to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards.
- Monitors network transmissions for advisories and program changes.
- Coordinates performance management activities.
- Plans and schedules programming based on various factors including community needs and viewer demographics.
- Acts as liaison between talent and directors, providing necessary information and communicating relevant details.
- Develops programming budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Generates ideas for new programs and features.
- Reviews and ensure accuracy of program information provided to other media outlets.
- Submits directorate’s reports
- Participates in fundraising activities for Projects .
Required Academic and Professional Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Humanities (English or Drama), Communication or Media Studies from an accredited institution of higher learning
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in a senior managerial role at a reputable public or private institution.
