Overview
Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University. Jhpiego develops innovations to enhance the capacity of health care workers, strengthening health systems and improve delivery of care towards improving the health and well-being. Jhpiego has been collaborating with the Government of Malawi and various partners in implementing a wide-range of interventions in maternal, newborn and child health, family planning, HIV/AIDS prevention and care and treatment, since 1999.
Jhpiego seeks to recruit a highly motivated Information and Communication Technology (ICT ) Officer to be based in Lilongwe. He/she will provide workstation support to staff and maintenance to Jhpiego computer and network infrastructure to ensure reasonable, stable operations in the country office and districts. He/she will report to the Senior Finance and Administration Manager.
Responsibilities
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT ) Officer is responsible for:
- Server System
- Perform Basic diagnostics and management and support of the Server infrastructure, Intranet and other Servers as advised by the Server and Network admin or IT manager.
- Client systems
- Set up and management of desktops, laptops, printers and phone handsets.
- Installation and maintenance of software on client systems.
- Maintain system and configuration change documentation.
- User support
- Management and Operation of service desk system.
- Provide support on LAN / WAN / VPN telephone or VoIP.
- Provision of Level 1 user support (diagnosis and resolution of basic desktop/laptop, printer, peripheral and software faults).
- Escalation of service requests and follow up as necessary.
- User training
- Identification of routine desktop and application support issues and provision of training for staff as required.
- Maintenance of IT User Guide.
- Ensuring user compliance with IT policies and guidelines.
- Network administration
- Following instructions to run basic network monitoring reports or utilities.
- Performing basic diagnostic and recovery routines on network equipment.
Knowledge:
- Confident user of Windows client & Server Operating systems and common desktop applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat).
- Knowledge of computer operations, data analysis, database management, and technical support.
- Understanding of client/server based applications.
- Good Understanding of the principles of structured network cabling and the practicalities of connecting network devices.
- Recognition of the function of basic network infrastructure such as routers and switches.
- Understanding of the importance of documenting system configuration information.
- Knowledge of international and USG donor agencies and private sector foundations.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in computer science, Engineering , computer studies, information systems, information technology with at least 3 years of experience as an Analyst or Support role or Equivalent, preferably in an international environment
- Candidate should possess Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certifications.
- Proficiency in Windows-based Server Operating Systems, should have strong customer service and communication skills.
- 5+ years’ experience in similar capacity.
- Excellent analytical skills. Able to absorb large volumes of technical data and develop concise solutions in addition to translating into non-technical terms to Program teams.
- Be self-motivated, proactive and have a positive attitude to work requiring minimum supervision.
- Pleasant, warm and outgoing personality.
- Be of high integrity and have a sense of confidentiality set by the organization
- Able to effectively communicate with senior management, third party vendors, technical staff, as well as non-technical end users
