Right To Care
The pediatrics and reproductive health lead will lead the design and delivery of all pediatrics and adolescents HIV programming, and sexual reproductive health (SRH) related activities including cervical cancer screening and treatment, prevention of mother to child transmission and family planning especially among Women Living With HIV (WLHIV) across Right To Care (RTC) supported clinics. Under the supervision of the technical director, the pediatrics and reproductive health lead will be responsible for providing coordination, technical, leadership and management support to implementation of pediatrics and adolescent programming, sexual reproductive health interventions. The lead will work in close collaboration with RTC district teams to ensure availability of high-quality pediatrics and adolescent HIV services and SRH services for WLHIV in all RTC supported sites.
Key Performance Areas
1) Technical Assistance & Leadership
A. Pediatrics and Adolescent HIV programming
- Support development of evidence-based strategies for pediatric and adolescent HIV clients along the continuum of HIV care for the program (case finding, care and treatment, and achieving viral suppression through clinical, programmatic, and psychosocial interventions.)
- Promote innovative programming in pediatric and adolescent HIV Care & Treatment across RTC Malawi’s facilities.
- Provide technical guidance in the implementation of the service delivery component of pediatric and adolescent care and treatment across the program.
- Support development of annual, quarterly, and monthly work plans; monitor and report on progress towards project milestones related to pediatric and adolescent care and treatment component on regular basis as required.
- Lead the development of technical tools, SOPs, and guidance to support implementation of high quality, evidence based and innovative interventions for pediatric and adolescent care and treatment across the program.
- Provide technical assistance, training, and mentoring to support RTCM’s district teams in pediatric and adolescent C&T.
- Work closely with the technical director to ensure initiation and implementation of data-driven, evidence-based approaches to differentiated service delivery to optimize test and treat guidance.
B. Cervical cancer screening services
- Provide technical assistance to district and facility teams on screening, evaluation, and treatment for premalignant lesions of the cervix.
- Provide support to health care providers on integration of Cervical Cancer preventions programs into existing HIV services in RTC supported sites implementing cervical cancer screening activities.
- Support facilities to give appropriate management for women in need of further services such as treatment of pre-cancers of the cervix with cryotherapy or LEEP and or referral of women with invasive cancer of the Cervix.
C. PMTCT, Family planning and STI services
- Lead PMTCT program planning, implementation, and monitoring, with a focus on ensuring that WLHIV prevent unintended pregnancies and treatment adherence (ART)
- Lead in strategic promotion of PMTCT and family planning services in all supported sites
- Lead development of PMTCT program materials as required.
- Ensure availability of family planning and STI services to WLWH in all RTC supported facilities.
- Ensure strategic service delivery and support on family planning and STI services to special groups of WLWH e.g.: adolescent girls and young women, female sex workers and female inmates.
- Work with other teams within RTC to identify opportunities for integration including decentralization of PMTCT, cervical cancer screening, STI, family planning and other HIV/ART services in all RTC supported facilities.
2) Capacity Building
- Organize and support pediatrics and RH related training programs for both RTC and MoH staff.
- Provide mentorship and supportive supervision to other health care providers in the RTC supported clinics.
- Provide support in decision making on special clinical cases that require consultation.
3) Monitoring and Reporting / Evaluations /Knowledge Management
- Track and report on all pediatric and adolescent care and treatment related inputs, processes, outputs, outcomes, and impact at supported sites in collaboration with M&E lead and DTLs to ensure that adequate progress is made towards set targets.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports to RTC and the donor as required.
- Document technical achievements of pediatric and adolescent HIV services, and reproductive health activities regarding access, quality, and service delivery impact in collaboration with partners.
- Liaise with counterparts in other RTC supported MOH programs, sharing lessons learned and working to strengthen RTC supported MOH programs.
4) Representation of the organization
- Work in a professional manner and maintain good relationships with site staff, program staff and colleagues in the MOH.
- Participate in the relevant national technical working groups for the subject matter.
- Participate in the development of pediatrics, and reproductive health related national guidelines, strategic planning, and other reference materials.
- May be delegated to represent RTC in meetings at district or national levels as required.
- Participate regularly in all the RTC staff and technical meetings.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the senior management team of the organization.
Required Qualifications
- A Minimum of Medical Degree (MBBS/MBChB)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in pediatric HIV and PMTCT.
- Working in HIV program for a minimum of 5 years
- Experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health issues in the context of HIV and AIDS will be an added advantage.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in programs relating to HIV, MNCH and cervical cancer screening.
- Good program management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Technical expertise in pediatric and Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS programs
- Good writing skills, excellent communication skills
