BACKGROUND
The Malawi Agricultural and Industrial Investment Corporation (MAIIC) Plc is a local development finance institution (DFI) incorporated in November 2018 under the Company’s Act of 2013. The company was established to bridge the long-term financing gap in Malawi and spearhead private sector development.
MAIIC is a commercially oriented DFI set up to play a leading role in socioeconomic development in the country.

Financial Analyst
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for originating, developing, and leading the due diligence, approval and financing of large and transformative projects in Malawi.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Exploring different investment opportunities in the Agriculture, Mining, Energy, ICT and infrastructure sectors.
- Conduct market research, data mining, and business intelligence in the various sectors that MAIIC is targeting to invest in.
- In-depth knowledge of big data and data analytical systems, to realise the importance of data-driven decisions over intuition-driven decisions.
- Analysing current financial performance, identifying trends and creating financial models for decision support.
- Perform business valuations.
- Preparing reports on investment recommendations and communicating the insights of these reports to the wider organization.
- Reporting to management on performance of the investment book and make recommendations on how performance can be improved.
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure alignment of the investment book and the general ledger for accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
- Professional qualification in ACCA, CFA, CIMA or CFM.
- Minimum of five years proven experience in business finance or other relevant experience.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, project management, and business development, preferably in the financial sector or development finance
