THE VACANT POSITION
PRINCIPAL CIVIL ENGINEER
Location: Blantyre, Malawi
Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Principal Civil Engineer for providing civil engineering services to the Corporation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing structural elements, sewer system and road networks.
- Planning, monitoring and supervising implementation of engineering/construction works on new projects
- Assessing performance of structures and their defects
- Supervising road and housing maintenance works
- Facilitating, monitoring and managing water/ electricity reticulation works with service providers
- Liaising with councils on construction projects
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years work experience as a Civil Engineer in a busy organization.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to plan job activities.
- Self-starter and innovative requiring minimum supervision.
- Good understanding of housing industry.
- Conversant with appropriate engineering and project management
- Software Packages e.g. AutoCAD, Microsoft Project
- Resilience and ability to work long hours in difficult environment
- Team player
- Analytical and problem solving skills
