Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA) is a nongovernmental organization that promotes sustainable environment and natural resources management. The organization’s vision is a just and equitable society that promotes sustainable development, focusing on natural resources, biodiversity, and climate change.

CEPA in partnership with WASTE Advisers and the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences has received a grant from the European Union to implement a three-year food systems project ‘Promoting Organic Systems of Soil Improvement to Build a Lasting Economy’ (POSSIBLE). The project seeks to promote sustainable and resilient food systems through demonstrative research and advocacy on waste-to-compost systems for improving soil health and waste management in Lilongwe and Blantyre.

CEPA therefore seeks to fill the following positions under the project:

PROJECT COORDINATOR
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day running of the project in coordination with the
partner institutions.

Location: Lilongwe

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinating development of plans and budgets for project-based activities;
    • Monitoring and reporting on project progress and  performance;
    • Undertaking quality assurance in the delivery of project interventions and associated expenditure;
    • Ensuring adherence of project implementation to contractual obligations and standard operating
      procedures;
    • Conducting policy research and analysis in food systems and the green economy;
    • Developing and facilitating policy advocacy processes;
    • Mobilizing and coordinating CEPA partners and other stakeholders to participate in food systems
      and green economy policy processes;
    • Developing and implementing communication strategies on food systems and green economy
      transition for Malawi; and
    • Liaising with government and other relevant stakeholders at national and local levels.

Required Qualifications:

    • Graduate Degree, preferably masters level in the environment, agriculture or related fields;
    • Experience in advocacy processes;
    • Demonstrated documentation and project management skills;
    • Working knowledge in Government of Malawi policies related to food systems and the green economy;
    • Ability to work in a team, manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines; and
    • Excellent computer skills.
