Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor (1 post)

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor


  • Providing comprehensive, proactive and confidential executive support services and assisting the Vice Chancellor in planning, organising, coordinating and participating in the operations of the university;
  • Conducting analytical work on specific matters as demanded and required by the Vice Chancellor;
  • Preparing impactful speeches and PowerPoint presentations for the Vice Chancellor as required from time to time;
  • Assisting with strategic day-to-day leadership and direction of all aspects of the office of the Vice Chancellor and ensuring that both matters of routine and more critical nature are dealt with promptly and efficiently in the office of the Vice Chancellor;
  • Developing, directing and/or coordinating the preparation of special reports and documents for the Vice Chancellor, including annual plans, strategic goals, objectives and status reports;
  • Coordinating and organising high profile events and visits directly linked with the office of the Vice Chancellor;
  • Pursuing Resource mobilisation opportunities identified by the Vice Chancellor;
  • Performing any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in any Academic Processes and Administration areas from a recognised institution. Those with additional qualifications in Project Management will have an added advantage;
  • A thorough understanding of developments in higher education locally and internationally;
  • Excellent writing skills, research skills and data analysis;
  • Ability to deliver quality work within a stipulated timeframe;
  • High standards of confidentiality, professionalism and personal integrity;
  • Ability to work in a busy organisation under minimum supervision;
