Applications are invited from suitable candidates to fill the following vacant post existing in the Parliamentary Service Commission.

Post: Principal Parliamentary Reporter
Grade: G/P7
Responsible to: Chief Editor of Hansard (F/P5)

Purpose of the job
To coordinate activities of Hansard Reporters


  1. Providing high speed and accurate word-processing and transcription services from audio  recordings in conformity with Hansard style guide;
  2. Taking short hand notes of proceedings or Committees to supplement the audio record;
  3. Obtaining Speech notes from Members and written materials from Ministries to assist in the production of the daily Hansard;
  4. Proofreading and conducting first audit of ‘takers’ before submitting to editors
  5. Coordinating the preparation and implementation of the daily roster.
  6. Coordinating merging of Hansard transcripts, and
  7. Facilitating capacity budding and management of staff under his or her responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A Degree in Journalism, Business Management, Business Administration or any other relevant field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in transcription work at job grade I/PO or above
