Applications are invited from suitable candidates to fill the following vacant post existing in the Parliamentary Service Commission.

Post: Chief Clerk Assistant (Committee)
Grade: F/P5
Responsible to: Assistant Clerk of Parliament (E / P4)

Purpose of the Job
To provide support and coordinate Parliamentary Committee works at the Parliament of Malawi.

Duties

  1. Proposing a Calendar for Committee meetings and ensuring that the Calendar is published;
  2. Assisting, the Assistant Clerk of Parliament in providing procedural and administrative advice to the Committee Chairperson and Committee Members;
  3. Editing minutes of Committee meetings produced by Committee Clerks;
  4. Coordinating the activities of Desk Officers of International Parliamentary Organisation
  5. Facilitating the process of reviewing Standing Orders relating to Committee
  6. Participating in the preparation of budget estimates for the Committee Section;
  7. Facilitating, building capacity and management of staff in the Committee Section; and
  8. Developing proposals to seek donor support for Committee work:

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Political Science or Law plus a minimum of four (4) years’ parliamentary work experience at job grade H/P8 or above. Those with a Master’s Degree in the relevant will have an added advantage.
