Malawi Electoral Commission

The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi. In accordance with Section 13 of the Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons with relevant experience to fill the following vacant positions that exist within its secretariat:

Job Title :           District Elections Officer (24 Positions)
Grade :              C6
Responsible to : Regional Elections Manager

Purpose
To coordinate and manage all electoral activities at the district level

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Guiding DEST, DCECC, MPLC and other Council electoral stakeholders on electoral matters.
    2. Coordinating the demarcation and review of ward and constituency boundaries.
    3. Overseeing the storage, distribution and retrieval of electoral material and
    4. Liaising with relevant elections officers on electoral matters.
    5. Supervising both permanent and temporary electoral staff at District level.
    6. Coordinating the recruitment and training of registration and polling staff at District level.
    7. Coordinating the delivery of CVE materials at district.
    8. Representing MEC at technical meetings with relevant stakeholders at district level.
    9. Producing appropriate reports as required from time to time.

Requisite Academic Qualifications and Experience Desired
Bachelor’s Degree in any Social sciences, Political Science, Education, Humanities or Development studies related field with at least two (2) years relevant work experience in a senior position
