Malawi Electoral Commission

The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi. In accordance with Section 13 of the Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons with relevant experience to fill the following vacant positions that exist within its secretariat:

Responsible to : Senior Systems Analyst

Purpose
Responsible for designing, coding, testing, modifying, and implementing new or existing software products

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

    1. Talking through requirements with clients.
    2. Writing program codes for reference and reporting.
    3. Producing efficient code.
    4. Creating testing protocols, fixing bugs, verifying and deploying programs.
    5. Testing software.
    6. Maintaining systems once they’re up and running.
    7. Being a part of technical designing.
    8. Integrate software components.
    9. Meeting with development managers to discuss the scope of software projects.
    10. Analyzing existing programs for modification purposes.
    11. Researching and designina new software systems, websites, programs, and applications.
    12. Writing and implementing, clean, scalable code.
    13. Troubleshooting and debugging code.
    14. Evaluating user feedback.
    15. Recommending and executing program improvements.
    16. Maintaining software code and security systems.
    17. Creating technical documents and training staff.

Qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or any ICT related discipline plus two (2) years experience in a developers role.

Core competencies

    • Advanced knowledge of programming languages including JavaScript, HTML5, Java, C++, and PHP.
    • Knowledge of software systems and frameworks including AnglularJS, Git, GitHub, and .NET.
    • Experience with Object-Relational Mapping (RM) frameworks.
    • Familiarity with Age development technologies.
    • Ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Ability to work as part of a team or individually on a project.
    • Ability to work well under pressure.
